On 22 April 2026, the Polish Army Museum marked the 106th anniversary of its establishment. The occasion provided an opportunity to highlight the role of an institution which, for more than a century, has safeguarded Poland’s military heritage while preserving the memory of the courage and sacrifice of successive generations of soldiers.
The ceremony began with the Polish national anthem, followed by a welcome address delivered by the Museum’s Director, Professor Bogusław Pacek. A letter from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was read by Artur Kołosowski, Director of the Operations Centre of the Ministry of National Defence. The message expressed appreciation for the Museum staff’s ongoing work in protecting national heritage and promoting historical awareness. During the ceremony, official appointments for Deputy Directors were presented, along with ministerial decorations. Individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting Polish military traditions and supporting the Museum’s mission were also honoured with commemorative medals and honorary distinctions. On this occasion, Professor Pacek awarded Karolina Wesołowska, Curator at the Katyn Museum, a commemorative medal in recognition of her 15 years of service.
The event was attended by representatives of the armed forces, public administration, academic and cultural institutions, as well as school students. The ceremony concluded with a concert by the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army, providing a fitting artistic setting for the anniversary celebrations.
