A Valuable Donation from Professor Andrzej K. Kunert to the Library and Archives of the Katyn Museum
The Katyn Museum has received a valuable donation from Professor Andrzej Krzysztof Kunert comprising a collection of books, historical and political science pamphlets, as well as newspapers, periodicals and archival documents. The collection includes, among other items, émigré and underground editions of works by Józef Czapski, Stanisław Swianiewicz and Janusz Zawodny, Soviet propaganda pamphlets, and Polish-language German occupation newspapers (the so-called gadzinówka press) published during the Second World War.
For many decades, Professor Andrzej Krzysztof Kunert has been recognised as one of Poland’s foremost scholars of contemporary history and as a person of exceptional merit in documenting, researching and commemorating the Katyn massacre. Through his scholarly, editorial and educational work, he has made a significant contribution to preserving the memory of the victims and to expanding knowledge of the Katyn massacre in Poland and abroad. The collection donated by Professor Kunert is not only a valuable resource for research into the history of the Katyn massacre and its representation in propaganda and collective memory, but also a testament to the lifelong scholarly work of one of the leading experts on the subject.
The donated publications constitute a valuable addition to the Museum’s library and archival collections.
