Join Us for a Postcrossing Meetup to Celebrate Polish Armed Forces Day
To mark Polish Armed Forces Day, we invite you to a special postcrossing meetup, taking place on 15 August 2026 at the Katyn Museum in Warsaw, 4 Jana Jeziorańskiego Street, in the J. Mackiewicz Hall. The event starts at 11.00 a.m.
The upcoming event will be an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts of postcards and traditional correspondence, chat, exchange experiences and make new friends. Participants will be able to obtain special, limited-edition postcards issued for the occasion, as well as unique postal handstamps prepared by Poczta Polska, exchange postcards, learn more about the idea of postcrossing, and take part in games and other activities prepared for the event.
Postcards, postage stamps, commemorative handstamps and small gifts will be available for participants.

Issue of a postage stamp commemorating General Tadeusz Rozwadowski
On 15 August this year, a postage stamp commemorating General Tadeusz Rozwadowski – one of Poland’s most distinguished military commanders – will be issued. Rozwadowski began his military career in the Austro-Hungarian Army and, following the restoration of Polish independence, became one of the principal organisers of the Polish Army and Chief of the General Staff.
The stamp features an archival photograph from the Military Historical Bureau, while the portrait on the stamp’s presentation card comes from the collection of the National Digital Archives. The First Day Cover (FDC) features a graphic depicting military manoeuvres in Volhynia in 1925, in which General Rozwadowski took part.

The issue was prepared by Poczta Polska in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence.
Several key figures were involved in drawing up the plan for the Battle of Warsaw of 1920. Józef Piłsudski, as Commander-in-Chief, General Tadeusz Rozwadowski, as Chief of the General Staff, the operational staff, and General Maxime Weygand, representing the French Military Mission, all contributed to the development of the operational plan. Rozwadowski was responsible for its preparation and staff coordination, while Piłsudski made the decision to implement it and commanded the main offensive. General Władysław Sikorski also played an important role on the northern section of the front. The victory was the result of the cooperation of many outstanding commanders.
Following the May Coup of 1926, General Rozwadowski sided with the legitimate authorities. After the fighting ended, he was arrested and removed from public life, effectively bringing his military career to an end. Today, recognition of his achievements is gradually being restored, and his role in organising the Polish Army and contributing to victory in the Polish-Soviet War is being given its rightful place in history.
