The latest volume of the journal Military Museology features an article by Karolina Wesołowska entitled Relacje jako źródło historyczne na przykładzie Muzeum Katyńskiego (in English: Testimonies as a Historical Source: The Case of the Katyn Museum) (2025, Vol. 12, pp. 34-63).
The article examines the use of oral testimonies as a historical source, focusing in particular on the collections of the Katyn Museum. Oral testimonies, comprising the accounts of witnesses to historical events, constitute a valuable complement to traditional written sources by providing unique perspectives and personal evidence. The article discusses the evolution of the concept of oral testimony, methods of its archiving and digitisation, as well as the challenges associated with its use in historical research. Particular attention is devoted to the Katyn Museum’s oral history archive, an important collection documenting the fate of the victims of the Katyn massacre.

We encourage readers to explore the article, which is available in Open Access on the “Muzealnictwo Wojskowe” journal platform.

The same issue of “Muzealnictwo Wojskowe” lso includes an article by Piotr Skotnicki entitled 1. Pułk Ułanów Krechowieckich w zbiorach archiwum Muzeum Wojska Polskiego(in English: The 1st Krechowce Uhlan Regiment in the Collections of the Archives of the Polish Army Museum).
