Lecture by Kacper Ciesielski at the Katyn Conference at the Museum of Polish History

On 15 April 2026, the Museum of Polish History hosted the Katyn Conference, organised by Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarity “Solidarity” Mazovia Region for secondary school pupils.
Participants attended a screening of the documentary film “Katyn – A History Still Alive”, produced by the well-known traveller Michał Pater. Following the screening, Kacper Ciesielski, Deputy Head of the Katyn Museum, delivered a lecture on the crime committed by the NKVD against Polish prisoners of war in the spring of 1940.
The students showed a high level of engagement, asking numerous questions about the identities of the victims, their ages, possible escape attempts, and many other detailed aspects of the prisoners’ captivity and their execution following the so-called Katyń decision.
After the conference, the pupils visited the permanent exhibition of the Katyn Museum.
The event brought together several hundred pupils from Warsaw secondary schools, offering them an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the history of the Katyn massacre.
