On 27–28 October 2025, a scholarly conference entitled „Ziemia Ostrowska wobec dwóch totalitaryzmów” (in English: The Ostrów Region in the Face of Two Totalitarian Regimes) was held at the Club of the 22nd Military Cartographic Centre in Komorowo. The event was organised by the Pilecki Family Home Museum in Ostrów Mazowiecka.
The conference brought together representatives of academic circles and cultural institutions, providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the fields of history and education on totalitarian regimes.
Among the speakers was Dr Bartłomiej Bydoń, Head of the Research Section at the Katyn Museum, who delivered a paper devoted to one of the victims of the Katyn massacre, entitled “Colonel Kazimierz Burczak in the Light of Private Correspondence”.
Following the conference, the speakers, accompanied by Director Karolina Kolbuszewska, visited the Pilecki Family Home Museum in Ostrów Mazowiecka, dedicated to Captain Witold Pilecki — a hero who has become a symbol of patriotism and of Poland’s steadfast resistance to two totalitarian regimes.
