“Standing Guard Over Remembrance” 3rd Military Ceremonial Roll Call – Join Us on 17 September
On 17 September 2026, marking the 87th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland, we invite you to join us for a commemorative ceremony honouring the victims of the Katyn Massacre.
The event will provide an opportunity to pay tribute together to the victims of Soviet repression, the Polish Army officers who were murdered, and all those heroes who remained loyal to their Homeland during one of the most tragic periods in Polish history.
The commemorations will begin in the morning at the Orthodox Military Cathedral at 2 Hynka Street in Warsaw, with the Divine Liturgy marking the first anniversary of the canonisation of the Katyn Martyrs by the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, followed by an Ecumenical Prayer for the Victims of the Katyn Massacre.
The ceremony will then continue at the Katyn Museum, where the III “Standing Guard Over Remembrance” Military Ceremonial Roll Call will be held at 12 noon on the parade square in front of the Museum.
At 1.30 pm, the Central Military Library and the Polish Army Museum will open a commemorative outdoor exhibition entitled The Nation’s Elite – Reserve Officers of the Polish Army in the Katyn Death Pits. The exhibition features, among other items, objects from the collection of the Katyn Museum.
The ceremony is co-organised by the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, the Polish Army Museum and its branch, the Katyn Museum, together with the Central Military Library. It will be attended by representatives of military communities, families of the victims of the Katyn Massacre, students from Military Preparation Programme classes, and all those who cherish the memory of Poland’s history and its heroes.
