The Katyn Evening – Memories…
On 2 April 2023, the Katyn Museum hosted an event entitled “The Katyn Evening – Memories…”, organised by the Historical Re-enactment Group “Zgrupowanie Radosław”. The meeting was dedicated to the memory of citizens of the Republic of Poland held in Soviet captivity, as well as to the tragedy experienced by their families. Participants recalled the fate of the prisoners of war and evoked the moving memories of the Katyn widows, who for a long time lived in hope of their husbands’ return. An important part of the evening was the presentation of excerpts from correspondence exchanged between the prisoners and their families – remarkable testimonies of family bonds, hope, and everyday experiences in the face of wartime tragedy. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the human dimension of the Katyn Massacre and to commemorate its victims and their loved ones.
During their visit to the Katyn Museum, members of the Historical Re-enactment Association “Zgrupowanie Radosław”, accompanied by Dr Bartłomiej Bydoń, also toured the exhibition.
