A Unique History Lesson at the Katyn Museum
(for students of Hugo Kołłątaj XXI Secondary School in Warsaw)

On 2 October 2023, students from Class 2C of Hugo Kołłątaj XXI Secondary School in Warsaw took part in a unique history lesson held at the Katyn Museum. The lesson, organised and led by their form tutor, Mr Jacek Anaczkowski, marked the 84th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland on 17 September 1939.
Surrounded by authentic artefacts and historical testimonies, the students were able to reflect on the tragic events of the Second World War and their lasting consequences for Poland. The museum setting offered a unique educational experience, enabling them to explore these historical events from a new perspective. The lesson became a living encounter with history and a moving account of the fate of the victims of the Katyn massacre and their families, many of whom also suffered persecution under both totalitarian regimes of the Second World War.
